Job Title: Surgical Dental Assistant Position Overview We are seeking a qualified and dependable Surgical Dental Assistant to support our surgical team one day per week at Lakewood Dental Associates. This role requires availability every Friday , with flexibility based on surgical case scheduling. The ideal candidate is experienced in dental surgery assisting, comfortable with a fast-paced environment, and knowledgeable of Ohio dental assisting regulations. Location: Lakewood Dental Associates Employment Type: Part-Time Schedule: Fridays only â 4â5 hours per day, schedule as needed/flexible Pay: $30â$40 per hour Work Schedule & Expectations Mandatory availability every Friday , 4â5 hours per week. Flexibility to adjust hours based on surgical schedule and patient load. Must be punctual, reliable, and able to commit to a recurring weekly day. Essential Responsibilities Assist dentists during oral surgery procedures (e.g., extractions, implants, bone grafting). Prepare surgical operatory and instruments; maintain sterility. Monitor patient comfort and assist with positioning during surgery. Perform supportive duties (suctioning, retracting, tray setup). Provide postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist. Maintain accurate documentation and patient records. Adhere to OSHA/CDC infection control standards and OSHA safety guidelines. Assist with radiography if certified/licensed to do so per Ohio dental board requirements. Ohio Dental Assisting Requirements Radiography permit/license is required to expose dental x-rays in Ohio. Certification such as DANB CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) , Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) , or RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) is preferred and may expand allowable duties. Qualifications Previous surgical dental assisting experience strongly preferred. Ohio radiography certification/permit (preferred or required if taking x-rays). Current CPR/BLS certification . Excellent understanding of infection control, sterilization procedures, and surgical support. Strong communication skills and professional demeanor. Ability to work under supervision of licensed dentist and maintain a positive team attitude. Ideal Candidate Profile Calm under pressure during surgical procedures. Detail-oriented and organized.
