Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records, and assist with medical coding as needed to ensure proper billing. Requirements Valid state licensure or certification as a Dental Hygienist with current registration. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with EMR systems like Open dental Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic technique. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles and pediatric patient care is a plus. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties confidently during procedures. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes.
