Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Alexandria, VA
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures and familiarity with dental software systems, as well as a commitment to maintaining patient comfort and safety. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Conduct chairside assisting for various procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging as required. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Manage appointment scheduling and assist with dental receptionist duties as needed. Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques. Experience Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with a strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures. Familiarity with medical documentation processes, including medical coding and records management. Experience with 3D scanners is a plus but not mandatory. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is advantageous for those working with younger patients. A solid grasp of infection control measures is essential to ensure patient safety.
