Pediatric Dental Assistant Journey Kids Dental – Fort Lauderdale, FLFull-Time | Monday – Friday Compensation: $18 per hour (based on experience) About Our Practice Journey Kids Dental is a pediatric dental practice dedicated to creating positive and comfortable dental experiences for children. Our team focuses on providing high-quality clinical care while helping kids feel safe, relaxed, and even excited about visiting the dentist. We are looking for a Pediatric Dental Assistant who enjoys working with children, supports the clinical team, and takes pride in creating a smooth and efficient patient experience. This role is essential in helping our providers deliver excellent care while keeping appointments running on time and patients comfortable. Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Clinical Support Assist the pediatric dentist during a variety of dental procedures Deliver excellent patient care, especially to children and families Help ensure children feel calm, safe, and comfortable during their visit Demonstrate empathy for patients who may experience dental anxiety or fear Provide age-appropriate communication to help children feel at ease Take dental radiographs as permitted by state regulations Clinical Protocols & Treatment Support Follow strict clinical protocols and treatment guidelines Prepare and break down treatment rooms for patient care Prepare instruments and materials needed for procedures Assist with orthodontic or airway-related procedures when needed Support procedures involving expanders or functional appliances when applicable Technology & Clinical Documentation Utilize dental technology including digital X-rays, intraoral scanners, and clinical photography when applicable Enter accurate clinical notes and documentation in dental software systems such as Dentrix or Dolphin Maintain attention to detail in patient records and clinical documentation Sterilization & Infection Control Follow all sterilization and infection control protocols Maintain proper instrument processing and storage Ensure treatment rooms remain clean, organized, and fully stocked Patient Education Educate children and parents on oral hygiene and preventative care Reinforce post-treatment instructions and healthy dental habits Support doctors in explaining treatment options to parents Team Collaboration & Workflow Work closely with the dentist, hygienists, and front office team Assist with patient flow to keep the schedule running efficiently Maintain strong communication with doctors and team members Demonstrate strong teamwork and a supportive attitude Remain organized and attentive to detail in a fast-paced clinical environment Clinical Support Operations Assist with lab case tracking and organization Help monitor inventory and clinical supplies when needed Maintain responsibility for keeping clinical areas organized and prepared for patient care Professional Conduct Maintain a positive and professional attitude Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic Stay calm and focused in a busy clinical environment Show willingness to learn and grow in airway-focused pediatric dentistry Qualifications Dental assisting experience preferred, especially in pediatric dentistry X-ray certification if required by state regulations Strong communication skills with children and parents Ability to stay organized and multitask in a busy clinical environment Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Bilingual in Spanish is preferred What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience Paid time off Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunities for professional growth and continuing education The opportunity to help children develop healthy dental habits for life Who Thrives on Our Team Team members who genuinely enjoy working with children Individuals who are dependable, organized, and proactive Professionals who stay calm and positive in a busy environment People who support their teammates and contribute to a strong culture How to Apply If you enjoy helping children feel comfortable at the dentist and want to be part of a supportive pediatric dental team, we would love to meet you.
