Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care tailored to their individual needs. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations diligently to protect patient privacy and safety. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with exposure to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Familiarity with EMR systems such Dentrix for efficient record management. Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks seamlessly during patient treatments. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles if working with children or in pediatric-focused practices.
