Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate medical records and document all patient interactions in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate aseptic techniques and ensure all dental instruments are sterilized. Monitor patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting effective medical coding and billing processes. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children in pediatrics or general dentistry environments. Demonstrated ability in chairside assisting alongside dentists during various procedures. Knowledge of medical coding related to dental services for accurate billing and documentation review.
