Part Time Dental Assistant - MIAMI COUNTY DENTAL CLINIC - Troy, OH

The Miami County Dental Clinic is seeking a compassionate and dependable part-time Dental Assistant to join our Traveling Smiles team. Traveling Smiles is our portable dental program that brings preventive and restorative dental care directly to children in Miami County schools. This position provides a meaningful opportunity to help improve children’s health by delivering dental care where it is needed most. This role works closely with our Traveling Smiles team to support the dentist during patient care, help ensure a smooth clinical workflow, and provide a positive experience for every child we serve. This position is during school hours, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The schedule is generally Monday through Wednesday, with occasional Fridays. This is a year-round position. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience. Assist the dentist during dental procedures and patient care Take dental X-rays and perform basic clinical assisting tasks such as impressions and applying topical agents Help maintain a clean and sterile treatment environment by following proper sterilization and infection control procedures Support patient comfort and provide basic post-treatment instructions Document patient information accurately in the electronic dental record system Assist with organizing supplies and maintaining an efficient work environment Experience and Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience as a Dental Assistant, preferably in a dental clinic or healthcare setting Proficiency with dental assisting procedures, including impressions, X-rays, and chairside assisting Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and equipment Familiarity with sterilization protocols and infection control measures Certification or licensure as a Dental Assistant preferred but not required Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment Ability to communicate effectively with patients and provide compassionate care Attention to detail when documenting patient records and assisting with procedures Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout treatment areas during patient care Bending, stooping, and reaching to assist with procedures and manage instruments Fine motor skills required for tasks such as taking impressions and assisting during procedures Ability to lift and handle dental supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds Frequent use of stairs and movement between treatment areas To apply, please send your resume to travelingsmiles@miamicountydental.org or call 937-339-8656 for more information.
