Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities Assist dentists with a wide range of procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and other specialty treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other delegated clinical tasks in accordance with state regulations and office protocols. Take and develop high-quality X-ray images while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and infection control standards. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, dental procedures, and medical coding. Monitor vital signs and medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient assessments in pediatric and general dentistry settings. Maintain aseptic technique and ensure all clinical areas are sterile, organized, and compliant with infection control policies. Support administrative duties including dental receptionist responsibilities, scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Qualifications Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification or license as required by state law. Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment; familiarity with dental terminology and anatomy knowledge is essential. Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing electronic health records (EHR). Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience with medical documentation, medical coding, and handling medical records in pediatric or general dentistry settings. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Knowledge of advanced dental technology including 3D scanners for diagnostics and treatment planning. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, specialists, and patients.
