Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting procedures, with the ability to perform expanded functions that enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. Responsibilities Assist dentists with advanced procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing proper aseptic techniques and dental terminology. Perform chairside assisting during various treatments, including X-ray imaging, medical imaging, and vital signs monitoring. Operate and maintain digital equipment such as 3D scanners, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Epic EMR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping. Manage infection control protocols in accordance with HIPAA regulations and industry standards to ensure patient safety. Support administrative tasks typically handled by a dental receptionist, including scheduling appointments and updating medical records. Conduct patient education on oral health practices and post-treatment care while fostering a welcoming environment. Maintain proficiency in dental assisting techniques across general dentistry procedures and specialized fields such as prosthodontics and endodontics. Ensure the clinical area remains organized, sterile, and compliant with all health regulations through diligent infection control practices. Skills Extensive experience with dental assisting in a fast-paced clinical setting, including pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Ability to perform advanced procedures involving X-ray technology, medical imaging, and 3D scanning equipment. Familiarity with infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Demonstrated competence in chairside assisting for general dentistry as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics. Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental procedures and documentation requirements.
