Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and X-ray imaging using medical imaging equipment. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies while maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards. Take and develop X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to protect young patients from radiation exposure. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort levels throughout procedures to ensure a positive experience. Practice four-handed dentistry techniques alongside the dentist to improve efficiency and reduce procedure time in a pediatric setting. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to pediatric dentistry, and specialized procedures like endodontics or prosthodontics when necessary. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate documentation and record keeping. Experience with dental assisting in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools confidently. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and best practices for managing medical records securely. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to pediatrics, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or chairside assistant that foster a friendly atmosphere for young patients.
