Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support. Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy. Gather vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse before procedures to ensure patient safety. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans using clear dental terminology. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, anatomy related to dentistry, and medical terminology is essential. Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, X-ray procedures, and vital signs measurement. Familiarity with advanced tools like 3D scanners and understanding of various dental specialties such as endodontics or prosthodontics will be advantageous. Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills in explaining procedures using proper dental terminology while maintaining patient comfort.
