Duties Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding. Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatments. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary, especially in pediatric or medically complex cases. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards; certification in radiography is preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience assisting with pediatric patients is a plus. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with the dental team. Certification or training in dental assisting, including chairside assisting, medical terminology, and medical coding is highly desirable.
