Duties Assist orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance installations using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) including panoramic and cephalometric images, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on orthodontic care, including appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and dietary restrictions. Manage patient records using EMR systems like Greyfinch or Eaglesoft, documenting treatment progress and updating medical documentation accurately. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical imaging or other procedures requiring knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology. Support front desk operations by coordinating appointments, managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and assisting with dental receptionist duties. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency in dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, X-ray techniques, infection control, and aseptic technique. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to ensure accurate documentation. Experience working with dental systems such as Eaglesoft or Grefinch. Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dental and orthodontic treatments. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist; capable of providing compassionate patient care in orthodontics & pediatric dental settings.
