Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use following aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to assist with accurate diagnoses. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handling dental tools, suctioning, and maintaining a clear working area during procedures. Monitor vital signs and assist with pediatric or special needs patients to ensure their comfort throughout treatment. Support infection control protocols by adhering to strict sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside support. Experience with Open Dental EHR for managing medical documentation and records. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Ability to operate X-ray machines safely and accurately capture diagnostic images; familiarity with 3D scanners is a plus. Understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices to effectively assist young patients and support pediatric-specific procedures. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced dental clinic setting.
