Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists in delivering comprehensive dental treatments, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and safety. Duties Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines while maintaining patient safety standards. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Open Dental, Dentrix, and Epic to ensure accurate documentation of patient information and treatment plans. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and monitoring vital signs during procedures. Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and dental terminology to foster understanding and compliance. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Ensure the dental clinic environment remains sterile and organized by following infection control guidelines and maintaining proper inventory of supplies. Requirements Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices essential for effective patient care. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and accurately. Strong understanding of aseptic technique to prevent cross-contamination within the clinic environment. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics; experience in pediatric dentistry is advantageous. Certification or training in chairside assisting; CPR certification is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and medical coding for accurate billing purposes.
