Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic technique. Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision. Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document treatment details accurately and efficiently. Obtain vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and compliance. Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, handling medical waste properly, and following established protocols for aseptic technique. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation within Epic or similar systems. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Experience working with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control procedures and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices to effectively assist with young patientsâ needs. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and interact professionally with patients of all ages. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow.
