You are eager to learn, and you don't mind starting in the ever-critical and valuable role of records and sterile technician -- the PERFECT stepping stone to a chairside orthodontic assistant, for the RIGHT individual with little to no experience. Responsibilities: Situational awareness: You are acutely aware of patient flow through the clinic at all times, and therefore know when instruments need to be removed and the chair / unit turned over (cleaned) and readied for the next patient The flow of instruments through the sterilization center and restocking units with previously used items, before the day starts and throughout the day. The sterilization center is your baby. Greet all new patients warmly and enthusiastically, and take them on a brief tour of the office Perform all needed imaging for new patients, that might include panoramic and cephalometric X-rays as well as digital photographs Upload and edit all new patient digital photographs for the treatment coordinator, in advance of her briefing with the Doctor Fabricate clear retainers for patients, as training allows Additional responsibilities as assigned Requirements: X-ray certification, or a willingness to become X-ray certified within 6 months of hire (exam expense paid) This is possibly one of THE most challenging roles to stay on top of. You exhibit a professional demeanor at all times, and stay calm under stress.
