Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and equipment for orthodontic procedures. Assist orthodontists during various treatments, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records , ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans, medical history, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry cases. Monitor vital signs when necessary, assist with medical documentation related to dental procedures, and support the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling and patient communication. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by following infection control standards and ensuring all equipment is sterilized properly. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, medical imaging, and taking X-rays. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy related to the head and mouth, and specialized fields such as prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry. Experience working with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle medical coding for dental records when needed. Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile environment within the dental clinic setting. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals. A solid understanding of dental terminology related to orthodontics as well as general dentistry practices to ensure comprehensive patient care.
