Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain and improve patientsâ oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong healthy habits. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient interactions, treatments, and assessments in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, and ensuring a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Experience working with pediatric dentistry is a plus; ability to comfortably handle pediatric patients is highly valued. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively. Proficiency in chairside assisting techniques and understanding of general dentistry procedures. Knowledge of medical coding, documentation review, and medical records management for comprehensive patient care documentation.
