Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment notes, and review documentation for completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Skills Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience in pediatric dentistry is highly valued, with the ability to provide compassionate care to children in pediatrics settings. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on patient assessment, education, and comfort management. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance standards. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection control.
