Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays using modern medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines; accurately document findings in electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Monitor vital signs and assess patient health status before procedures, especially for pediatric patients or those with special needs. Manage medical documentation and records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Support front desk operations by assisting with dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow seamlessly. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to ensure precise communication and documentation across all clinical activities. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental for accurate recordkeeping and medical documentation. Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry settings, including pediatric dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners; familiarity with medical imaging procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to facilitate effective communication within the team. Skilled in managing dental assisting tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, and supporting four-handed dentistry practices.
