Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection control standards. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding. Monitor vital signs of patients before procedures and provide reassurance to pediatric and adult patients to foster a calm environment. Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control practices to uphold the highest standards of hygiene within the clinic. Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing medical records with professionalism and courtesy. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding enhances efficiency in documentation and communication. Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is essential for success in this role. Knowledge of dental imaging tools such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners is advantageous. Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft along with Epic or similar platforms will streamline patient management processes. Understanding infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and HIPAA compliance are critical for maintaining safety standards.
