Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures. Assist dentists during various treatments such as cleanings, restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures. Take and develop dental X-rays, including intraoral images and 3D scans, ensuring high-quality medical imaging for accurate diagnosis. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs during procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort. Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and oral hygiene practices to promote ongoing health. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to strict sterilization procedures in accordance with industry standards. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for efficient documentation and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting. Ability to operate dental equipment like X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools accurately. Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating appointments or explaining procedures to patients.
