Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficient workflow. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Document patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review and update medical records, ensuring all documentation is thorough, accurate, and compliant with legal standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental software such as Open Dental for charting and documentation review. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform vital signs measurement and medical coding accurately for billing purposes. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs compassionately and professionally. Familiarity with EMR systems, medical imaging procedures, and general dentistry practices is highly desirable.
