Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, including vital signs assessment and managing medical emergencies if needed. Skills Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards. Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics to effectively care for young patients. Skilled in chairside assisting, including aseptic technique and medical imaging procedures. Ability to review medical records accurately and understand medical coding for billing purposes. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to individual needs. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, medical terminology, and documentation review processes.
