Responsibilities Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and other treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as digital X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring patient safety and comfort Manage patient flow by greeting families, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and explaining procedures in a friendly manner suitable for children Maintain accurate medical documentation and dental records within electronic health record (EHR) system like Eaglesoft while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy Support infection control practices by following aseptic techniques and maintaining a clean clinical environment Assist with medical coding and documentation related to pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards Skills Proficiency in dental assisting with experience in pediatric dentistry preferred Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to pediatrics, and medical terminology Familiarity with EMR system such as Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively Excellent communication skills to interact comfortably with children and their families while explaining procedures clearly Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic setting Experience with chairside assisting techniques in general dentistry environments is advantageous Understanding of pediatric-specific considerations such as behavioral management strategies and vital signs assessment Join us to make a meaningful difference in children's oral health!
