Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental examinations to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary choices, and preventive care strategies. Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive interventions. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and sterilizing dental instruments according to industry standards. Collaborate with dentists and other team members Monitor patient comfort during procedures and provide empathetic support throughout their visit. Review documentation for accuracy, assist with dental coding, and ensure all patient information is up-to-date. Qualifications Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, including familiarity with dental assisting and chairside procedures. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly desirable. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging support, and patient assessment accurately. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients on oral health practices.
