Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and fluoride treatments to maintain and improve patientsâ oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and the importance of regular dental visits. Assist with chairside procedures by providing four-handed dentistry support to the dentist, ensuring efficient workflow. Taking X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix. Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with exposure to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic setting. Strong skills in patient care, assessment, and education tailored specifically for pediatric dentistry when applicable.
