Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during various procedures, ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging equipment, including 3D scanners when applicable. Manage patient records by accurately updating medical documentation, medical coding, and ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining patient comfort throughout procedures. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain treatment plans clearly. Operate practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to schedule appointments and manage medical records efficiently. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation for patients with special needs or medical conditions. Support administrative tasks including greeting patients as a dental receptionist and managing insurance paperwork when necessary. Uphold infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized dental clinic environment at all times. Qualifications Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures. Certification in radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous. Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques. Familiarity with medical imaging tools including 3D scanners and digital X-ray systems. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics. Attention to detail in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation compliant with HIPAA regulations.
