Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Review medical records, document treatment plans accurately, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage dental records electronically using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring precise documentation review and medical coding. Requirements Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state licensing boards. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy related to oral health. Skilled in chairside assisting, infection control protocols, and maintaining a sterile environment. Knowledge of dental assisting procedures, documentation review, and medical coding practices. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members.
