Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to ensure optimal care. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to proper aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems in Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, maintaining a clean clinical environment, and following OSHA guidelines for safety and hygiene. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience working in general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Skilled in chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and performing medical imaging with attention to detail. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse age groups, especially pediatrics.
