Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Operate digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to support accurate diagnoses. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to ensure precise documentation of patient information, medical history, and treatment plans. Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures. Support administrative tasks such as dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance information. Maintain clinical supplies inventory and sterilize instruments following infection control protocols. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Skills Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various dental specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics. Experience with chairside assisting techniques in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments. Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Familiarity with infection control procedures and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety. Knowledge of medical coding and medical records management for comprehensive documentation. Skilled in using digital tools like 3D scanners for advanced diagnostic purposes. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
