Job Summary The schedule is Monday-Thursday 8-5. Only working one Friday a month and it is a half day. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and calculus, and applying fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs measurement and medical history review, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR systems). Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental terminology standards. Maintain a clean, organized operatory environment while managing infection control procedures and sterilization of instruments. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with exposure to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and documentation review. Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, dental terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately to diverse patient populations.
