Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists by performing clinical tasks, educating patients on oral hygiene, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental practice. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using chairside assisting techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Ensure aseptic techniques are followed to prevent cross-contamination during all clinical procedures. Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments and provide support during procedures involving pediatric dentistry or general dentistry cases. Manage documentation review, medical coding, and data entry within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Uphold high standards of infection control, adhering to all OSHA guidelines and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience working in dental clinics or dental offices with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record-keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Experience with chairside assisting, including four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to accurately review medical records, perform patient assessments, and document findings thoroughly. Familiarity with medical coding processes related to dental procedures for insurance billing purposes. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
