Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies tailored to individual needs. Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments, sealants, and providing support during restorative or pediatric dentistry procedures. Utilize dental software systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation review, charting, and maintaining electronic medical records (EMR). Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety. Support the dental team with administrative tasks including appointment scheduling, medical coding, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state requirements. Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings; familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures is a plus. Proficiency with dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR systems is preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Ability to perform patient care tasks efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism. Experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for seamless workflow efficiency. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for protecting patient privacy and medical records.
