Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and knowledge of anatomy. Assist dentists during various procedures such as general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and efficiency. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding. Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary, especially in pediatric dentistry or medical imaging procedures. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-operative care instructions, and oral hygiene practices to promote overall health. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team, including dental receptionists and hygienists, to ensure a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out. Requirements Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with familiarity in dental assisting duties and dental terminology. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines. Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, and medical documentation practices. Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable; familiarity with medical coding for insurance billing is advantageous. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
