Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring accurate positioning and safety standards are maintained. Manage patient records by updating medical histories, documenting treatment notes in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix , and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a sterile environment with aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist in medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases. Support front desk operations by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and managing communication as a dental receptionist when needed. Qualifications Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly desirable. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Ability to perform dental X-ray procedures safely while adhering to HIPAA standards for patient privacy. Familiarity with dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and medical imaging tools. Strong understanding of four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during procedures. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
