Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Perform chairside duties such as taking X-rays, vital signs, and medical imaging to support accurate diagnoses and treatment planning. Manage patient records using EMR systems like Open Dental, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and adhering to infection control protocols. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-operative care, and oral health habits to promote ongoing wellness. Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and other imaging equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist to ensure smooth clinic operations. Qualifications Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant with demonstrated experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, anatomy, and dental assisting best practices. Experience working with EMR systems such as Open Dental; familiarity with Epic is a plus. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining patient comfort. Knowledge of specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics is preferred but not required. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and educate patients effectively.
