Job Overview Plaza Midwood Dentistry is looking for a dental hygienist rockstar in our office near Uptown Charlotte. The position can be part-time or full-time. We are flexible. If it is full-time, we have great benefits and a friendly work environment. Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup, ensuring thorough oral hygiene maintenance. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes as needed. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and infection control standards. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with medical coding is a plus. Strong knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral health, dental assisting procedures, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the clinical team. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and proper management of medical records.
