Duties Prepare treatment areas with all necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments with precision and professionalism. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment like 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while maintaining patient safety standards. Record detailed medical and dental histories, vital signs, and medical documentation accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Support general dentistry procedures through four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort during treatments. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting with knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience operating EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate medical documentation and record keeping. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards; familiarity with 3D scanners is a plus. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles to assist with children’s dental care comfortably. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding related to dental procedures for precise documentation. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics; capable of explaining procedures clearly. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting chairside assisting across various specialties like endodontics and prosthodontics.
