Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Assess patient oral health by reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and conducting oral examinations. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Capture and review medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental instruments, to ensure patient safety. Monitor patient vital signs and recognize signs that require immediate attention or referral. Support pediatric dentistry cases by providing gentle care tailored to childrenâs needs in a compassionate manner. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records regularly, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes when needed. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings; dental office experience preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with medical imaging equipment is a plus. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and HIPAA compliance standards. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups, especially pediatrics. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties confidently using aseptic techniques while supporting the dentist during procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology, documentation review processes, and basic medical coding practices. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
