Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying fluoride treatments. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and sterilizing instruments effectively. Collaborate with dentists and other team members using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Review documentation, medical coding, and treatment plans to ensure accuracy and completeness. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting and record management. Experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and medical terminology. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and work seamlessly within a team. Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and documentation review processes.
