Responsibilities Assist dentists with a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols. Prepare treatment rooms by setting up necessary instruments, dental supplies, and medical imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Provide chairside assistance during procedures by managing dental instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear operative field. Take and develop X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy; interpret basic dental images for diagnostic purposes. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; document medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes with precision. Support patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures in understandable terms, and addressing questions about dental terminology or treatment plans. Maintain a clean and sterile environment following aseptic techniques; ensure infection control standards are consistently met across the clinic. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and assist with insurance processing using medical coding practices. Requirements Previous experience working in a dental clinic or similar healthcare environment is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting duties is essential. Proficiency in Eaglesoft is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques. Experience with dental radiography including X-ray procedures; certification in X-ray technology is highly desirable. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and working with children is advantageous; familiarity with pediatric-specific equipment like 3D scanners is beneficial. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients of all ages. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and data privacy; ability to handle sensitive information responsibly. Certification or training in medical terminology, medical coding, or endodontics is a plus but not required.
