Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Capture and interpret medical imaging as needed for diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, medical records, and treatment notes in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow HIPAA regulations diligently to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or both, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health. Experience using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and sterilization standards within a dental setting. Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting during various procedures. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Familiarity with medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus.
