Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying topical anesthetics. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety. Support general dentistry procedures by assisting dentists during treatments with pediatric dentistry focus when needed. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards aligned with HIPAA regulations. Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific patient care strategies. Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform basic medical assessments relevant to dental care. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes. Excellent patient communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care and education.
