Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, ensuring safety and comfort. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and preparing treatment areas. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and documentation standards. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to sterilization procedures. Collaborate with dentists during procedures, providing efficient four-handed dentistry to enhance patient experience and workflow. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting and record management. Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical coding. Skilled in patient care, including patient assessment, medical records management, and documentation review. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and medical terminology to ensure accurate recordkeeping. Prior experience in general dentistry or dental clinic settings is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting techniques is a plus.
