Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to assess patient health status. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Conduct patient assessments, review medical histories, and update medical records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures. Support pediatric dentistry by providing gentle, age-appropriate care for young patients in a welcoming environment. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry and familiarity with dental terminology and procedures. Proficiency with dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Knowledge of infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and medical terminology to ensure patient privacy and safety. Strong understanding of anatomy, medical imaging techniques, and pediatric dentistry best practices. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse patient populations.
