Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current registration requirements fulfilled. Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with dental terminology and anatomy knowledge is essential. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment with professionalism and compassion. Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures and fostering positive patient relationships. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and documentation review processes for accurate recordkeeping.
