Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term health. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Maintain strict infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures, to ensure patient safety. Review medical and dental records for accuracy, update documentation regularly, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinic environments. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting and documentation review. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and medical coding practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles when working with children or adolescent patients.
