Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, ensuring safety and personalized care. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control protocols. Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support pediatric dentistry patients with specialized care tailored to children’s needs, fostering a positive dental experience from an early age. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix for record keeping and documentation review. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform patient care tasks including patient assessment, medical coding, and vital signs monitoring confidently. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health status and treatment plans. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to provide compassionate care for young patients. Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, medical terminology, and dental assisting techniques to support the entire dental team effectively.
